EXCURSION TO VINALES
Declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999, Cuba’s Viñales Valley is an outstanding karst landscape encircled by mountains and dotted with spectacular dome-like limestone outcrops.
In the Viñales Valley, traditional techniques are still in use for agricultural production, an example being locally grown tobacco, which is used to manufacture world renowned Cuban cigars. The Valley’s cultural landscape is enhanced by the vernacular architecture of its farms and villages, where a rich multi-ethnic society survives.
Visit the village of Viñales and the Wall of Prehistory. Visit the Cueva del Indio and a tobacco plantation where you will learn the process of collecting tobacco leaf and the manufacture of handmade cigars.
